c2. To all graduates
All graduates near and afar!
Heed this warning -- so sincere.
Your new-found time do not squander,
Realize and capture the bright future that is near.
The time has come for you to mature,
Regardless how perfect you now think you are.
Once on your own, by yourself, you will see
That the time ahead look rough indeed.
History shows us that all people need,
No matter how rich or poor they are.
A lifetime awaits you, but not an eternity.
You must seek in some manner
I higher degree.
For you will find no favor
By royal decree.
Your life is now your own to unfold.
Make not hasty, foolish decisions, take due care.
Stop wasting time complaining of how the winter is cold.
Be 'wary, for you will find those seeking to hurt you,
Lurking everywhere.
There is more here than a mere verbal graphic display.
There is a moral, a promise, a wish to convey.
Take care to realize your own faults each day
That you may grow from them in some virtuous way.
Now is the time to ever strive further,
Study and achieve your academic goals.
If you have none, make some.
Make with yourself some form of pact or charter
That you won't let yourself fall behind. Work Harder!
