c2.  Ashes all around me

Just at that moment the thought occured to me
That the mere presence of an actual wraith
Could not begin to protray the residual effects
Of what appeared to be the immortal ravenous
Soul of the shaded Morpheus. *1

Fogged was he indeed,
But what of that other ominous,
Omnipotent power that
Overshadows our very creation?!

The time was nearing midday and young Robert Bryan
Found himself reclining amongst the half-dried grass and weed,
Just gazing at the nearest celestial sphere.
He thought that he could find some type of peace
In searching for the destiny he knew was to befall him
Due to his mottled and powerful heritage.

Only eighteen years had passed since his day
Of reckoning to this world,
But time long enough for much to transpire
Among family, friendships, experience, and education;
Virtuous and spiritual growth.
Not all of his previous endeavors and encounters
Did he allow to account for what virtue and wisdom
He did posess.  But, he did find some comfort
In knowing that his situation was very far from unique.

By the close of this day of nearly purely refined thought
Robert Bryan was content to resume what he knew
To be his already prescribed course and began the long journey Home.
Home -- a place where he could easily have found his
Doubts rekindled in that mire of misfortune.
However, unlike the many occasions before,
Robert Bryan returned with a strength
To maintain his self-sworn convictions
That to this day held firm. *2
