The Cosmic Glue - Part 2
Let's go back to Kashmir Shaivinism, the only source other than Gotamo
(the 'Buddha') who spells out the problem.
Note: it is very likely that Tibetan Buddhism also contains this piece
of the puzzle because it uses several methods similar to Kashmir
Shaivism. But Tibetan Buddhism is a blend of Hinduistic Tantra and
Buddhism with the emphasis on the Tantra part and Shaivism is one of
the basic schools of Tantra and predates Tibetan Buddhism by many
centuries.
There are no texts from Tibetan Buddhism about the subject at hand
known to the author of this article. As mentioned already, the author
is grateful for leads to texts that address the subject at hand.
In a nutshell, Tantra as taught in the school of Kashmir Shaivinism,
aims to break up the 'direct attachment' by evoking a vibration that
is called the 'cosmic pulse of consciousness' or short 'spanda'
(Sanskrit for 'vibration').
This vibration precedes any creation of an emotion, such as intense
excitation, love, and any form of admiration. On the flip-side, it
also precedes fear and anger.
In this 'Little Purple Notebook...', this phase has been called the
'pre-cycle void' because in 'normal' life this vibration' is usually
felt as a 'void' and goes completely unnoticed (cp. Chapter 720. The
Interweavings of Beginnings, Changings, and Endings).
The 'spanda' vibration during the 'pre-cycle' void can be amplified,
once recognized, by means of sound.
Amplification can happen through specific speech patterns (mantras) in
a language that contains appropriate sounds (like Sanskrit), provided
that the speaker knows the correspondence of sounds with the energy
centers of the body (chakras) and produces the vowels and consonants
of the mantra accordingly.
It can also be amplified by producing overtone sounds (sometimes
called polyphonic chanting). This method is primarily known to the
Western world through Tibetan monks, and, as of recently and thanks to
Richard Feynman's efforts, through Tuvan, Siberian, and Mongolian
polyphonic chanting traditions.
The 'spanda' technique is rather hard to learn, even when a qualified
teacher is available. Besides the necessity of maintaining awareness
throughout the process, it also requires the applicable knowingness
that human emotions are entirely created by the Being itself. This
means, that the Being must be able invoke emotions at will and discard
instantaneously any possible (unwanted) emotion that may arise during
the process.
Now, having looked at the existing approaches aiming to handle the
'direct attachment', an alternate process will be proposed.
It should always be carried in mind that the process of dissolving
ONLY 'direct attachments' by itself is dangerous and not viable. It
*has to be* balanced by the process of _creating_ direct attachments
as well. If a Being would just dissolve direct attachments, it would
literally 'hang in between worlds' - it would not a viable approach at
all.
The Being, in order to be truly free, must be able to create whatever
it wants. 'Cutting off the roots', as Gotamo proposed, can make only
sense if the Being is already fully aware of its powers and if it can
also exercise them under any possible circumstance.
Now, a lot of people say that to dwell in this Universe or not would
"only be a consideration". In other words, if one just changes one's
considerations, reality changes as well.
While this is a basic truth, it is not viable for practicable purposes
and generally in succeeding in _doing_ things. The very same people
usually find themselves unable to do the most basic things in life,
such as procuring the necessary money for a decent and comfortable
living.
They may say now that they are not "yet" able to change their
considerations or that 'they're working on it'. They often pretend to
"want" exactly what they can't change. In either case, they can't do
it. Thus they walk around deluding themselves and others and are bound
to fail unless they change their approach.
To understand the process proposed in the following and to be able to
adjust it as necessary for one's own references, here is a basic
working model on how attachments seem to actually come about:
o a Being finds itself compelled to assume a certain position in a
playing field that it finds within its reach.
This position is determined by the progression within a circular
arrangement (or 'wheel') of identity sequences that can be charted
with a line plot (to produce a 'line plot' see, for example, The Pilot
materials linked to in the URL section).
The formation of the 'wheel' itself is governed by the basic desires
to be fulfilled. The Being decided upon these desires when it entered
the game itself and as such they are not subject to change as long as
the Being remains within this Universe.
Note: Alan C. Walter coined the name 'codes' for this set of basic
desires (which he call 'wants'). The existence of 'codes' is putting a
considerable (sic!) dent into the assumption that 'everything is a
consideration'(and thus could be changed).
o In order to assume an identity that is recognizable by other
players in the game, the Being selects some pieces in the
Universe that could fit this purpose. The classical case is that
of a Being's spiritual emanations taking over a human body
shortly after its birth.
o In order to bind the particle(s) the Being finds in the Universe
(the tokens of its game), it embraces the particle(s) with a
vibration close to the particle's own basic vibrations with the
undertone of the "cosmic" vibration ('spanda', see above).
o The result of this embracement is the feeling of "we" (or "us")
for both the particle(s) AND the Being.
o Finally, once the identification has been established
successfully, the Being refers to the new compound briefly as
'I'.
This, it appears, is the way a Being descends into this Universe. It
can only occupy a player's position by binding pre-existing particles
to itself. This explains, why the Being MUST trap itself, at least
temporarily and 'for the time being'.
Note: the assumption that a Being can create any particle as it wants
(and has done so extensively in the past), doesn't change this
methodology in the least. The pieces 'we' are playing with now are so
'old' that they cannot be measured in trillions of years. They are
from a sequence of earlier (failed!!!) Universes (compare, for
example, Bill Robertson's GUM (Game-Universe-Model) theory).
Independently of the above, the following process will get a stalled
progress on the way to freedom going again:
The "We and Us" Rundown
I. Disintegration of fixed identifications
1a. Enter a state free of _any_ thoughtform
or
1b. Enter a state with a single thoughtform (any and all muscles in
the body should spontaneously relax upon entering this state of mind)
2. Descend to the density of the physical body (if the reader can do
1a or 1b, s/he will know what this
means).
3. Emanate the vibration of 'WE'.
4a.During the first round, the response may be overwhelming and the
'puncture process' may be necessary: for every 'we', mentally drill a
'hole' into the evoked Universe, effectively paralyzing (or
'freezing') the emanation.
As soon as there are no new responses, RAISE the entire (and by now
probably quite complex) structure to the NEXT higher level of
awareness. It will dissolve when raised.
4b. If there is a single response to the "We" concept, raise it to the
NEXT higher level of density and it will resolve. (Don't raise it too
high, as it wouldn't resolve then).
II. Integration of new identifications
5. Select an existing, rigid construct in this
Universe (an easy way is to look at a statue,
for example).
6. For each detail (posture, expression, clothing,
gadgets) originate the "We" emanation (this part
will also blow off remaining "We" dentifications
on the current (human) body - so it may take a
while).
III.
Repeat the process using "Us" instead of "We"
(this is the inflow vector).
IV.
Go through I through III using as many
different languages you can think of (for
whatever reason, this does make a difference).
If necessary, invent ('mock-up') new
languages.
The end phenomenon of this sequence of processes (or 'rundown')could
be called 'a clarity on how to create identities'.
Without this clarity - whichever way it may have been attained - any
opinions about 'nirvana' or 'freedom of man' are nothing but idle
words, barked into the chilling wind of time: vain and forgotten the
very moment they have been uttered.
