We've temporarily restored the Phrack issues to ftp.eff.org, as a test.  If
load is not too high, they'll remain here.  They were originally REMOVED
from the EFF ftp site because people were using up a frightening amount of
our computing resources sucking Phrack off the net.  They'll be REMOVED
again if this condition recurrs.

Phrack and the rest of the CuD archives are not EFF-related, and have a home
here only as long as it's not a drain on our resources.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP KEEP PHRACK HERE:

* Get Phrack from a mirror site.  See the end of this file for a list of
mirror sites.

* DON'T go blare the news.  Tell your friends, but don't tell Usenet.

* DON'T do "mget phrack*"!  Do "get 00-INDEX.Phrack"  Look through this
index, and then come back and get the issues you need.

* if you must make a mirror of the entire site, please DON'T DOWNLOAD
THEM ALL AT ONCE.  Do "mget phrack-0?.*", come back another time, do
"mget phrack-1?.*", and so on.

* if you must get more than a few at once, please do it AFTER OFFICE HOURS!

* and, finally, GET A GZIP IMPLEMENTATION FOR YOUR MACHINE, and transfer
them as gzip'd binaries, instead of forcing our machines to decompress them
on the fly for you. That eats up CPU time like you would not believe.


If you abuse our system, we'll have no choice but to delete Phrack again, and
then you'll have to ftp to Finland or where ever to get them.  Sorry to be
heavy-handed here, but it's important.  Our machines do a LOT more than
simply cough up files for you; they are EFF's heart and lungs, and are pushed
the limit daily.  Just ONE of our mailing lists alone has over 3 THOUSAND
subscribers!

The archives on ftp.eff.org are the main CuD archives, in the directory
/pub/Publications/CuD.  Several shadow or mirror sites are being maintained:

Phrack is located in the Phrack directory under the CuD directory on all of
these sites.
