HIGH CAPACITY INTERNAL DISK DRIVE KITS FOR SPARCSTATIONS
AND 3/80'S NOW AVAILABLE FROM ARTECON
Carlsbad, CA, February 5, l990.....Artecon today announced a 318
MByte, 3-1/2 inch, internal disk drive kit for Sun 4/60 and 3/80
workstations. This is the highest formatted capacity disk
subsystem available for the Sun's new desktop systems. Artecon
also announced a 20G MByte (formatted) drive kit for the same
workstations.
"Almost since the first SparcStation shipped, Sun customers have been
looking for more storage than is available from Sun," said Dana
Kammersgard, Artecon's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "What we
now offer is double and triple the capacity that is inside the Sun
box. Beyond their high capacities, these disks offer the highest
performance we've seen in a 3-1/2 inch form factor."
The 318 MB subsystem has an average seek time of 12.5
milliseconds and a burst transfer rate of 4.0 MB per second. The
200 MB drive has an average seek time of 16 ms. and a burst
transfer rate of 4.8 MB per second.
Artecon's 3-1/2 inch disk kits include mounting brackets, all
required cabling and an installation manual. Also included is a
1/4 inch support tape that provides full Sun O/S support for the
the two high capacity drives to reformat, relabel and repartition
the drivers in the field if necessary.
