This recipe is from \fIConsumer Reports\fR, which rated it as much better than
most bottled sauces\(emand cheaper.

You can add whatever additional ingredients you like (mushrooms, tomatoes,
etc.) to this basic recipe.

IG "3 Tbsp" "olive oil" "50 ml"

IG "28 oz" "crushed tomatoes" "1 kg"
IG "16 oz" "tomato paste" "500 g"
IG "1 cup" "water" "300 ml"
IG "2 tsp" "dried basil" "10 ml"

(or less to taste)

Brown the garlic in the olive oil in a

pan.

Add the onion and brown until transparent.
(You can saut\z\(aae a tomato in here also if you want.)

Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring often.
(Longer cooking won't hurt.)
