POPPY SEED COOKIES                     Servings: 3-4 dozen

3/4 c.        sugar                    1   tsp.  almond extract
1/4 lb.       butter                   1         egg, beaten
2   c.        sifted cake flour        1/2 tsp.  baking powder
1/4 c.        poppy seeds                  pinch salt

   Cream butter, sugar and egg.  Add, by sifting in, flour, baking powder
and salt.  Mix well.  Add poppy seeds and extract.  Drop by teaspoons on
ungreased pan, close together.  Bake at 375F 10-12 minutes.
