Mary Stewart's most famous work is her arthurian series.  King Arthur is
one of the two academically repectable areas in SF (the other being
utopias/distopias).  I mean, even John Steinbeck has done a book on the
Knights of the Round Table.  I'm burned out on the subject myself.  She's
also done a number of other fantasies, none of which I've read.
