The one Joe Haldeman novel I've read was great, the award winning "The
Forever War".  The best mini-description I've heard was: an answer to
"Starship Troopers" as written by a Vietnam veteran.  I own a couple other
Haldeman books, but they're on my to-be-read shelf.
