OMACL is the deluded brainchild of one Douglas B. Killings
([email protected]), who really does have better things to do
with his time -- just ask his wife!

OMACL is an archive being assembled as a service to the Internet.
The purpose of this archive is to provide a free and easy way for
the average computer user to access some of the most important
literary works of Classical and Medieval Civilization.

All texts are provided in straight ASCII format, usually
compressed using PKZIP version 2.04g.  Unless otherwise noted,
all texts are PUBLIC DOMAIN in the United States.  Because
copyright laws vary from country to country, OMACL makes no
representation as to copyright status outside of the United
States.

OMACL encourages the free distribution of its texts.  However, if
you intend to post these texts on any server other than the one
in which you found these texts on, OMACL does ask that you let us
know.  If you intend to use these texts as source material for
your own research, we also ask that we be cited as such.

At present OMACL is attempting to provide at least one new text a
month.  Announcements of new releases are regularly posted on
several listserves, including MEDIEV-L, MEDTEXT-L, and others.

DIRECTIONS FOR USING PKUNZIP:

First, make sure you have the file PKUNZIP.EXE loaded into either
the directory you wish to use for your e-texts or in a directory
that is on your Path (e.g., C:\DOS).  If you do not have this
file, the shareware version can be downloaded from just about any
BBS or online service.  MAC USERS: Look for a STUFFIT converson
utility; this will make PKZIP files usable in a Macintosh
environment.

To decompress:

At the DOS prompt, type the following command:
    PKUNZIP <name of file>.ZIP

Example --
    To decompress file NJAL.ZIP, type: PKUNZIP NJAL.ZIP
