I'd like to finish this year with a thought that was on my mind for
quite a long time. People around gopherspace are time from time
bringing the topic about replying to other posts. I feel from those
posts that there is some common need to do this in more automatic way
than just simply writing what I think about someone else's post on my
own phlog and then (maybe) letting them know by e-mail.
I don't think so. When the way to reply is too easy, too much stupid
content emerges and after a while nobody cares. I am still active on
social networks for crowds of ordinary people (and by that I mean
Facebook) and I can see it daily. People create vlog replies to
comments on posts of people they even don't know and it gets really
weird. You have to filter out quite a lot of content to keep yourself
sane and not to spend too much time of reading/watching stuff that
brings you nothing.
That's why I like gopherspace. There are ten to twenty active people
and I enjoy texts of each and every one of them. I am not over-worried
that some easy way of replying can destroy that, but I am not willing
to risk it - you never really know until it's late. Less is sometimes
much much more and in this post-information era it's more true than
ever before.
I wish gopherspace in the following year to remain the same as it is
right now. I've been here since 2011 and it never was better.
