       To-do list for 2016
       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Organize my PC-compatible stuff
Although PC-compatibles are not my cup of tea, I managed to collect
quite a lot of various hardware for this platform during the years.
I have multiple motherboards, various CPUs and a ton of cards for
ISA, PCI and AGP slots. Most of this was cheap to buy or even free,
but that's hardly a reason to keep things I will probably never use,
because much better and faster hardware is available today for the
same price. It will take some time to go through all the stuff, but
it seems to be necessary and inevitable.
2. ZX Spectrum project
As I didn't do it last year, it would be appropriate to do something
(anything, really) this year. To improve my chances I already started,
I don't want to be specific right now, I hope I'll manage everything
until the end of the year.
3. ADB keyboard to USB
This one stays as well. If I understand everything correctly, it
should be as easy to connect a ADB keyboard to generic PC box as it
is to a Mac, so I hope I will write at least few posts to this phlog
from a good 90's Apple keyboard in 2016.
4. Gopher project
The biggest thing on my gopher in the year 2015 was probably the
Czech daily news from one of the biggest local news-servers. They
probably don't know about it, but it made my gopher actually useful
and worth daily visiting. The news server is stuffed with ads, so the
gopher way is much pleasant to read, even though you miss all the
embedded multimedia and sometimes the text formatting is far from
perfect. In 2016 I'd like to make another such a big thing happen.
I don't know, what it will be ye, but I'll try to come with
something up.
5. Use github more
I have at least half a dozen of apps that I wrote or am trying to
write and I think most of them should be on my github account. But
that would require some dusting off, cleaning and polishing of the
source code. Will there be some time to go through this in 2016?
6. SCSI drives
My SGI Indigo2 and Quadra 700 require a new HDD. The one in Quadra
has bad sectors, which prevents me from installing A/UX and the disk
in SGI seems to be totally dead. I don't know exact limitations for
either of the computers, but I'll have to find out and then get those
HDDs somewhere, wish me luck.
7. BBS geocache
This one is added just as a bonus. I'm into geocaching, in fact in
august it's going to be a decade since I registered and started the
hunt. So I would like to celebrate by creating a "BBS geocache",
where you'll have to call to a regular BBS, log into it and find
there the final coordinates. I plan to use my Duinomite Mini single
board computer with some old cell phone which has a data modem.
That's it. It's again seven points on the list and the the whole year
ahead. I hope it will be a successful one.
