(2025-12-15) Creativity vs. consumption, again
----------------------------------------------
Throughout the recent weeks, I notice how I get more and more tired, both
mentally and physically. Not exactly sure why. What especially bothers me
though is that I can really postpone that feeling for some brief period of
time with some new purchases. I guess that what's driving the consumer
instinct within most people, but I can't help the feeling that this is
pretty bad, even though I rarely buy stuff and choose wisely what I need.
On the other hand, what can bring the true relief as opposed to temporary
dopamine rush? Creation of something new, of course. Preferably without
requiring any new material resources. For instance, when I had written my
own Neocities uploader, I stopped feeling tired. When I found out a way of
bypassing CORS restrictions on the same Neocities hosting, I felt good. When
I started working on another page, I felt my headache going away.
However, not everything is fine with that approach either. Sooner or later,
one may face the lack of tools. Or the lack of parts to DIY those tools. So
again, it comes to purchasing those parts. It comes to the concept that you
need to consume something first in order to create something else later. So,
the realistic goal always is to consume less and to create more, but it will
never be a 0%:100% ratio. As long as I'm stuck where I am now, I have no
choice but to deal with it.
As such, I got some Pi Zeros (2 W) and still waiting for my extra screens and
T-Decks to arrive. It's time to create something really beautiful out of
them.
