# someodd Mumble

Voice chat that's been used for decades (?). Many clients for phone and desktop/laptop.

Connect to: mumble.someodd.zip

It’s a bit tricky to set up but offers strong encryption and full control. My
server provides a lightweight, private alternative for high-performance voice
chat.

I primarily use this when playing on my Counter-Strike 1.6 server. Please see
one of:

## Suggested clients

I literally just use Mumble for Linux, but I think it's available for all kinds
of platforms. Please see: https://www.mumble.info/

On Android I use Mumla.

## Troubleshooting

When it comes to "voice activity," I was confused by silence below/voice above
sliders--play with BOTH sliders.

As of March 8 on Debian Sid, 2025, a global hotkey for push-to-talk does not work.
