Fang Lurkers are small, reptilian creatures with long,
double-jointed legs, clawed feet with sticky pads that easily scale
walls, and lizard-like faces. Large fangs protrude from their
over-sized mouths. They dwell in cracks in cavern and dungeon walls,
usually near ceilings, and move slowly and very quietly in search of
food. They are capable of large jumps of up to 20 feet when using
their strong legs, surprising on 1-4 in d6 when they do attack in
this manner. They often chase prey by leaping quickly from
wall-to-wall.
They like to eat tunnel prawn and giant centipedes (they are immune
to centipede poison) but will attack larger and even human-sized
prey when hungry. They are typically found in groups of 2-7.
Treasure is limited to what was on their prey - larger victims will
be left laying in dungeon hallways or chambers, half-eaten and with
armor rent to expose flesh.
* Stat block above is for Swords & Wizardry White Box (or OD&D,
Delving Deeper, etc.), where HD are d6-based. For other S&W
editions, or for Labyrinth Lord, use 1d8 for both HD and damage.
