Re: workstation=desk
<SMALL FLAME>
Why, oh, why does everyone assume that a workstation is a piece of hardware
(furniture).  In truth, a workstation is really some sort of virtual terminal
which may or may not live in a micro system in close proximity to the user,
or may manifest itself as just a KDT (Keyboard Display Terminal).  Where the
rest of the iron is located is academic.  What does everyone want in a
workstation?  Good question.  I want:
1. Fast response
2. Nice tools
3. Security
4. Constant environment (i.e. not having to live with cms AND unix AND CP/m ...)
5. Reasonable file/mail servers.
6. At least local area network access to other stations in my peer group and
  preferrably to the public networks.
~v
[dratted thing wont let me edit] reverse points 5 & 6, since 6 is needed
to support 5.
7. Reasonably portable, too.

WRT built in to desk:  No thanks.  I'd like to have it at least on wheels.
Also, if I was an executive, I'd like it to be invisible when I wanted it
to be so.
