Re: Festive banquet services.
This is a follow up to Jeff Langer's article on the eating theatre in
the World Trade Centre.
Festive eating arrangements are available now in most large cities. The
price of admission is usually fixed and should be looked at as an entertainment
ticket rather than the cost of a meal. Many of these shows fall into the
class of the Medieval Inn in Vancouver where the patrons gather before hand
in an anteroom. The style here is to elect a lord to preside. The lord is
sometimes costumed by the serving wenches. Lots of fun and about $50 a head.
Medieval Inn serves medieval food on bread trenchers, and you get a knife
with which to eat. Not very refined, but the food is good and plentiful.
Another experience is Festin des Governeurs in Montreal (if still operating).
Festin takes you to the time of New France, and is also very nice, and
considerably more mannered.
Then there are the real dinner theatres like the Teller's Cage in Toronto.
Your admission gets you dinner and the show. Bar extra.
Maybe this stuff doesn't really belong in net.wines, but I think it
is the most appropriate newsgroup that is current. Anyone for net.dining
or net.clubs?
