Chopped ATARI 800
I received a reply to a previous article; it said that the first part of
the article was chopped off.  (The article never appeared on my machine at
all!)  Here is the first paragraph (and the bulk) of the unfortunate
'victim':

Wanted:  a compiler (for Pascal, Fortran, "Tiny-C", or whatever)
that will run on, and generate code for, an ATARI 800 personal computer
with 48K of RAM.  It should be compatible (or possible to make it
compatible) with ATARI's OS and DOS.  It should have an assembler/machine
code escape/call facility, or be readily extendable, so that the ATARI
graphics features can be used.  It should be able to generate reasonably
efficient code (e.g. such code should run at least 4 to 5 times as fast
as interpreted BASIC).  In case you're wondering, the ATARI 800 is a
6502-based microcomputer.
