VHS vs. Beta

The differences between VHS and Beta formats are heavily argued by the
owners of both.  It's something like discussing the best editor - it
becomes a largely religious issue, with the members of each group finding
it inconceivable that anyone with half a brain would consider buying the
other format after carefully examining both.

My personal findings lead me to believe that there is little real
difference, with excellent VCR's available in both formats.  The deciding
factor for me was the kind of format my friends own.  After all, it's
likely that you'll want to trade tapes with your friends, so it's best
to be compatible with them.
