Modern UNIX schedulers are tuned to give better response to highly
interactive processes already!  Nice can help some but it is sort of
indirect... why not implement "real-time" process support (I plan to
put this on the next USENIX conference tape) to obtain true pre-emptive
scheduling if that is what you really want?
