Not to be repetitive, but this may also uphold your point
(rhm) Our good old Quincy, when told this, said that he,
as a M.E., could not certify medically that the man was
insane. However, the good ol' rabbi (no sarcasm intended!)
subsequently convinced him: A rational man would do nothing
to hurt himself nor others, most noticeably his family. By
committing suicide, he does not help himself, and certainly
does not help his family (unless he really has a multibillion
dollar policy! -- comment by me) so he obviously cannot have
been rational at the time -- i.e. it is insane to commit suicide.
This is how I interpreted the argument presented.
