Shuttle News
Canadarm today demonstrated for the first time that it can
pick up a package, wave it around, and then bring it back.
So it was with a plasma detection package, as Gordon Fullerton
successfully grabbed it, waved it around, and then set it down.
The arm will be first used to deploy a satellite on the seventh
shuttle mission, now set for April, 1983.  The first three satellites
to be deployed are communications satellites -- they will be
launched from a spinning spring like platform, to enable them
to stabilize before there own boosters take them up to the
geosynchronous orbit range.
