SH DESCRIPTION
I Submit
(or
I post)
is used to submit an article to one or more newsgroups in the
Duke News system.
I Submit
provides an interface to the
I News
program which looks more like the Rand MH system.
For more information on the News System, see the manual
page entry for
I news.
LP
I Submit
copies an article form to
the file <MH-DIR>/ndraft and then invokes an editor on the
file.
The default editor is /etc/mh/prompter, which may be overridden with
the
B \-editor
switch or with a profile entry 'Editor:' or with
the environment variable 'SEDIT'.
(See prompter(1) for details).
The default bulletin form contains the following elements:
nf
LP
    Newsgroups:
    Subject:
    ----------
LP
fi
If the file named 'newscomps' exists in the user's MH directory,
it will be used instead of this form.
If
B "\-form formfile"
is specified, the specified formfile (from the MH
directory) will be used as the skeleton.
The line of dashes
or a blank line must be left between the header and the
body of the bulletin for the bulletin to be identified properly when it is
posted.
If the heading 'Newsgroups:' is found, the following names will be
added to the list of newsgroups to which the article will be sent.
The switch
B \-use
directs
I submit
to continue editing an already started bulletin.
That is, if \fIsubmit\fP is terminated without posting the bulletin,
the bulletin can be edited again via \&'submit \-use'.
LP
If the draft file already exists,
I submit
will ask if you want to delete it before continuing.
A reply of
B No
will abort the \fIsubmit\fP,
B yes
will replace the existing draft with a blank
skeleton,
B list
will display the draft, and
B use
will use it
for further composition.
LP
Upon exiting from the editor,
I submit
will ask 'What now?'.
The valid
responses are \fBlist\fP, to list the draft on the terminal;
\fBformat\fP, to pretty up the bulletin (see fmt(1);
\fBquit\fP, to terminate the session and preserve the draft;
\fBquit\ delete\fP, to terminate, then delete the draft;
\fBsubmit\fP, to submit the article;
from that specified on the command line;
\fBedit\ <EDITOR>\fP, to invoke <EDITOR> for further editing; and
\fBedit\fP, to re-edit using the same editor that was used on the
preceding round unless a profile entry '<LASTEDITOR>\-next: <EDITOR>'
names an alternative editor.
If the editor used on the preceding round was 'prompter',
the system acts as if there was a profile entry of the form
\&'prompter-next:\ EDIT' where EDIT is the taken from the environment
variable EDIT.
