Re: EMD going out of business
For those people who travel betwee New Jersey and Washington, DC,
I would like to recommend Amtrak from Metropark (Iselin.)
I got tired of the long delays, cramped seats and hard landings on
New York Air, who provide the bulk of flights between EWR and WDC.
The train does it in three hours flat, with bigger and more
comfortable seats. And... you get to ride behind a Swedish
ASEA electric built under license by EMD! This thyristor
motive unit has twice the traction and half the weight of the
GE units it replaces, and I am not talking about the CG1's. The
Swedes accelerate smoothly and fast. Thr roadbed is improving,
but not up to European standards. Try it. you'll arrive less frazzled
at a cost of no more than an hour of travel time.
