All Californians reading this please take some action!
The State Legislative analist has just published a thick report on
how to trim $2 Billion from the state budget. Many items that can
be trimed are mentioned in the mammouth report; each item is covered in a few
paragraphs of text on the average. Item number 53 is a FOUR PAGE
attack on the state Rail Transportation Program, the elimination of which
will save only $22 million out of the $2 billion! Yet, it is precisely
this total elimination that is called for in the report!
If this program is dismantled, then three of the six San Diegans, both
San Joaquins, and the Spirit OF California train will be eliminated!
If you don't want this to happen, then letters to your state
Assemblyman and state Senator should be written as soon as possible.
