Why not change fa. to net. now ?
Now that the links to the ARPANET are munged, wouldn't it be a good
time to re-think the handling of gateway traffic.  It has been beyond
the understanding of most users what the rules and regulations of the
"fa." groups mean.  Would this be a good time to get rid of the "fa." idea
and just use "net." for these groups ?  The gateway systems could then
do whatever is required to interface the two nets.  Perhaps an individual
could be found for each group to interchange digests. Usenet should
be able to stand on its own without the inflow from ARPANET, and if it
can, the ARPANET gates should desire a two-way flow of articles and/or
digests.  This would all be much easier if Usenet has its own names and
does not try to maintain a separate system for ARPANET traffic.
