I think that getting net.general.followup is exactly what you want.
Followups are submissions to a newsgroup, and most people will want
to read them.  Many followups contain actual original information, not
just answers to queries.  In my opinion, the followups are part of the
newsgroup, but putting them in a subgroup allows somebody who wants to
restrict his information flow to do so.
That's a lot better than forcing all the people who want to see followups
to the articles to subscribe to the mishmash of net.misc!
