Re: watmath.1578: duplicate articles
Do a lot of duplicate USENET articles actually contain slight editings
of other versions?  If so, the answer is to install the netwide cancel and
to also ask people to post changes rather than the article again.
Multiple digests could be checked at ucbvax the way I suggested.
(actually, with digests, simply a comparison on the header would be enough
since it contains a unique issue number, but this assumes that later digests
don't come out as corrections either)
Naturally, comparison has to start after the header.

One thing bothers me about the automatic cancel command.  right now, anybody
can call rnews, and that means anybody who knows what they are doing could
send out a cancel request on my articles.  I wouldn't like it if some
censoring person decides he doesn't like somebody else's net.jokes.q entry
and decides to cancel it!
