"Now why the h*ll did they do that?  It seems to me that
this is a unique opportunity for those of us out here that
have to use the stuff to have an input in the design of
this software!  The same thing happens with UNIX.  Why the
h*ll did they do that!?!?!  Primarily because no one gave
them any alternatives and they did it the best way they knew
how at the time.  I see little use in arguing about arms
races (although it is quite interesting to read), but I do see
use in helping to direct the development of something that I
use in the future.  As long as it doesn't get out-of-hand,
follows guidelines set by our legal folks, and could be set
off in a special newsgroup...  Why not?
