Net Censorship Flame
I object strongly to any netwide efforts to control use of the net.
Nothing you can do will stop the really stupid use of the net, and
anything you do will slow evolution of the net into what it should
become. I object to the net.jokes type use of the net, and won't read
the garbage, and it I were administrator of any site, would not
post or forward the junk. However, I certainly would not enforce
any censorship on any other site, or pass on anyone else's control
(except, perhaps, my boss'). I plead with you who control the source of
the net code to put in the tools to easily control what a particular
site does, from both an administrator's view and that of a user.
I hope that all discussion of this, or any other topic relating to the
net is relayed to the net. My personal hope is that the net will
add to our capability to communicate, and do away with the horrible
decisions that are made by committees meeting in "secret" at some
conference or other.
