I agree with harpo!ber. Let's discuss this at USENIX.
The whole subject is important and deserves some effort, (AND some
contributions from non-BTL sites). Although netnews is the appropriate
forum for much of the discussion an opportunity like USENIX could make the
whole thing much easier and would allow many concerned parties to talk about
it, think it over, talk about it, etc. Perhaps we could also come up with
some guidelines for decision-making through Usenet, (somehow the proposed
name change discussion didn't quite work, f'rinstance).
