USENET Policy
As netnews administrator for zero (0) machines, i second Adam's request for at
least some net discussion of the issues submitted for consideration.  Also,
just plain users should have some voice in the matter.  One thing which worries
me is the regs for posting something "offensive".  OK, who decides?  Jeez,
people hasn't anyone else ever looked into free speech issues?  Yes, i know
this isn't exactly speech and that this stuff is paid for by someone in the end.Still, the whole point behind the 1st Amendment is that NO ONE is really
entitiled to decree "i don't like that and/or think it is obscene so no one
should hear it."  Yes, some of jokes.q were offensive to me (for the record
i am white, atheist but brought up protestant, 21, wear glasses, and lived fo
20 yars in th South.  i think that covers most of the possible groups to
which i belong which could be "offended") but as stated, a site or user
doesn't have to accept such groups.  Why does the idea of a committee to
watch over everyone to make sure we don't do anything bad remind me of
the Moron Minority and the Congressional Un-American Activities Comms of the
'50s?

Also, given that a supervisory committee for USENET is needed and established
(seemingly contrary to the above, i do support the idea of such a committee
on the grounds that some final arbiters to problems such as is it net.mc,
net.cycle, net.motorc, etc. are needed)  how do people get on it?  Volunteers?
Election over the net (a new group; net.soapbox/ballotbox)?  Fiat?

Too bad i'll be missing the rest of the discussion, what with break and all.
If someone could do up a summary of the discussion over the next 2 weeks
and post it about Jan20, i'm sure a lot of  people would appreciate it.
