Re: wire service stuff; net.jokes.q issues
least, if someone wants to feed stuff straight into the network
from the wires, then he or she has the responsibility to make
sure that it's done right, i.e. no duplications.  There've been
quite enuf lengthy repetitions of that damn 'tots' story.
It's not even interesting!  And (the first time) I was looking
forward to another exciting dead baby joke appropriate for
net.jokes.q... aw shucks.  Whoever is responsible for sending that
stuff out from alice (and i know it ain't daemon), clean up
your software!

W.r.t. that newsgroup, the powers-that-be here (myself), have
similar concerns to cbosg!dale's, and are also considering shutting
it off.  It is incredibly naive to think that a clear distinction
can be drawn between ethnic jokes and racist ones.  Come on, join
the 80's.  Use of a generic epithet such as 'ethnic' or 'martian'
may be sufficient, but 'moron', for example, is obviously totally
unsuitable.
