Railroad News Group
Regarding cbosgd!mark's comments on the Railroad news group:

This news group covers items pertaining to local and intercity rail transit.
Issues are discussed and announcements are made.  It is not as broadly read
as more "famous" groups (ie; SF-LOVERS, etc) but does have a few contributers
and some readers.  It tends to be bursty in traffic; it's quiet when nothing
is happening, and verbose when events are occuring.

Regardless of its specialized readership, it is definately a more
"serious" topic than some of the usenet groups.

Anyway, I do thank you for your reply to the initial question.
