What's in a Name?
How about PEAK-FREEN-NET?  We're very serious, cookie.  I think this
very serious stuff is ridiculous.  One can't live very long with a cork
jammed in one's anal orifice.  I'd rather use Lola than USENET.
Calling it something like INFONET or NEWSNET has no character, and
would make it hard to distinguish from other networks.  Any form of the
words teleconferencing or telecommunications will make me sick.  There
is already an ARPANET TELECOM list, which rightly discusses
telecommunications.  A network which just uses telcommunications should
not be called TELECOMNET, it's just too vague.  COMMUNET might stir up
the Americans out there, accent on first or second syllable.  So far, I
like ARACHNET best, spiderwebs and bugs... And speaking of Webb, much
more discussion on this topic, and this could turn into a DRAGNET.
