WRT breaking up net.music into several classes by type, I find the idea
repulsive in the extreme.  There are many intersections in "types" of music.
For example, where would you put outfits like the Jacques Lussier Trio? (I mean
besides in net.defunct).  However, I do support the idea that there should be
three newsgroups as suggested recently (net.(audio|records|music)) which should
cover the ground on technical areas, recorded media and general music.  Some
comments have indicated that net.music should be restricted to "electronic"
music. I disagree with this because "electronic" is not the only music, nor
even the most modern music.  Herewith is a list of one possible topic for
each of the three possible groups:
net.audio - Metal Cassette Tape Technology
net.records - Reviews of specific recorded performances (not necessarily music).
net.music - Graphic Scores: advantages and disadvantages of
       John Winterton
