I agree completely.  Automatic cleanup is essential - readnews really needs
to do this.  Unfortunately, I don't see it happening before the release.

Another issue is that with so many newsgroups, it's starting to get really
slow to plow through readnews.  I think some profiling might be in order
to speed this up - there is no fundamental reason why it needs to be so slow.
