Re: acoustic pickups?
Though it's been a while since I've been interested, I looked seriously
at pickups some time ago. The two biggest names are FRAP and Barcus-Berry.

FRAP put out at least two models; the most expensive was an acoustic

pickup with three transducers in a single housing -- one for each axis.
They had a less expensive model with but one transducer. The price
of $170 sticks in my mind, but it's been a few years, and I don't know
if that was for the single or triple. I think you had to buy a preamp
on top of that.

Barcus-Berry makes a pickup for just about anything -- and they were
usually cheaper than FRAP, too. I'm sure they have something that would
do the trick. This company got into the business because Berry (I think)
played violin and got tired of fighting with microphones, so wanted to
do it right. I was impressed with their products, though most need a
separate preamp.

Helpenstill makes a line of piano pickups -- I have no experience with
them, but remember reading the ads. They might have something for you.

I ended up not buying any pickup, choosing instead to purchase a quality
mike and stand, because I needed to amplify 4 different instruments
(two saxes, flute, and guitar), and couldn't afford four pickups.

Hope this helps....
