Computer Music-- Information Wanted

I'd like to know if anyone has done any interesting work
recently in two areas of "computer music":

   - display programs : for creating/editing hi-res music displays
   - composition programs : especially good chorale harmonizers
               and species counterpoint writers.

I would be particularly interested in software that has been
written in C or franz.

While I'm here, I might also ask if there's any interest in
forming a "net.music" newsgroup.
