Motorola says that the 68010 -- the virtual memory-capable 68000 will
be sampled in 4th quarter 1982.  The 68020 -- a 32-bit version -- will
be sampled in 4th quarter 1983, as will a IEEE floating point coprocessor.
These latter two are HCMOS technology, which should reduce power consump-
tion significantly.

Motorola has captured about a third of the 16-bit market; most of the
rest belongs to Intel.  The Z-8000 doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
Intel has announced plans for a 32-bit version of the 8086; their customers
are resisting the 432 because of the reprogramming that would be needed.
