Re: ZX81 Plea
Our ZX-81 kit did not work either.  We sent it in with the $20 repair
charge, and they sent an assembled new unit.  I don't think Sinclair
takes the time to sort out the reason for failures; they just ship you
a replacement unit "no questions asked."  We just received a 16K module
(after waiting over a month) that doesn't work and have returned that
to another outfit that now handles Sinclair repairs for them.

The Sinclair ZX-81 is quite good, when it works.  I had hoped that the
experience of building the kit would be a good experience for my 11
yr old son.  Unfortunately, since the unit didn't work, and our
experience with the memory module, this hasn't been a very satisfying
experience.  I think that the VIC unit that you can get for about
$260 is a much better buy.  For the extra $40 or so you get a far superior
keyboard, TV color, and sound effects; and much more expansion capability.

Another rip off - - we subscribed to the ZX-80 magazine SYNC in Oct.
and have received 0 issues despite calls and a letter.
