ARRL Propagation Report
QST de ad7i
HR Propagation Forecast Bulletin NR 44  from ARRL Headquarters
Newington CT  November 1, 1981  (received at ad7i 11/2/81)
To all radio amateurs:

>From an October low of 174 on the 26th and 27th, the solar flux rose
to 210 by the 31st.  The average for October was 212, the 19th
month over 200 in this solar cycle.  As expected, geomagnetic
activity was lower in the final week of October, making for improved
propagation on 50 mhz and lower frequencies.  All continents were
worked on 50 MHz from several U.S. and Canadian areas in this period.

November should also be very good for all DX activities, especially
on 28 and 50 MHz.  The best days should come November 2 and 3, 9 and
10, 16 through 18 and in the final week of the month.  Users of the
50 MHz band particularly should try to make optimum use of the next
few weeks as it seems unlikely that we will see anything like this
fall again for at least 9 or 10 years.

American sunspot numbers for October 22 through 28 were between 129
and 68 for a mean of 93.6.  They should be higher in the next week.
