problem with mailing replies
I have only been receiving news for less than a week now, so maybe this
particular problem has already been covered, but I will plunge ahead anyway.

My problem is in use of the 'reply' response in readnews. Let me state
initially that this is USG Unix (4.0) and the /bin/mail source has an
sccs delta of 1.5. News works it's way through several machines to get to us, so
any reply sent through mail has a long argument of system names to get
back to the originator of the news. It seems that by the time uux had set
up it's files for uucp to transmit, the argument was truncated at about
40 characters. Obviously the news would not get to it's destination.

The problem seems to be in /bin/mail. In a routine called sendrmt(), there
are two buffers called 'cmd' and 'rsys'. Both of these character arrays are
subscripted with 64. By the time this routine is exited, the information
is lost. I compiled a temporary version of mail with these two arrays
increased to 128, and it seemed to work alright. Of course, if the next
machine down the road has the same problem, and the path is sufficiently
long, it will still be messed up on that machine.

Any help with this problem would be appreciated.
