request for plotting programs

Does anybody have UNIX programs for plotting numeric graphs that
are more flexible than the standard "graph".  What I have in mind
is something that, like "graph" produces output for "tplot",
but which is more flexible about grids, labeling of axes, labelling
of lines, etc. I am (slightly less) interested in
such programs even if their output is not "tplot" compatable.
