I want to agree with alice!jj; it's hard for me to justify the
phone bills for the stuff that's been coming into the net
lately. No one has bugged me about it, but it may happen.
When I was at cincy, we had to fight HARD to get the administration
to pay the bill. I would not like to think what would happen
if they get wind of the 'frivolous' nature of current transactions.
I agree that this stuff is fun, and I would like to see it, but
it all costs money! (And a fair amount, at that, for some sites.)
Folks who work for the phone company are extolling the
"we don't have to care" attitude when they say that it doesn't
matter and an alternate route can be found. It would be
good for all of us to get up off our butts and out from
in front of the terminal to read a paper every day, rather
than trying to get all our info through this little box
that seems to have taken over our lives.
