relational DBMS for Unix
If anyone is interested in database management systems under Unix, there is  a
relational DBMS called MISTRESS which runs under Onix, Xenix, and Unix version
6, 7, or PWB, on any PDP-11 or LSI-11/23.   MISTRESS  has  been  developed  by
Rhodnius Incorporated, a company whose principals include John Kornatowski and
Ivor Ladd, the major authors  of  Univ.  of  Toronto's  MRS  database  system.
MISTRESS  features  an  English-like query language (a subset of SEQUEL II), a
variety of data types including date and dollar, interfaces to C and the  Unix
shell,  interactive  creation  of  tables and entry/update/deletion of data as
well as bulk entry of data, and a built-in line editor for correcting mistakes
in entering query language commands or entering/updating data.

Documentation available is: i) Principles of Operation; ii) The Query Language
iii)  Host-language Interface;  iv) Application Examples; v) Beginner's Guide;
and vi) Installation Guide.

The price of MISTRESS is $5K commercial, $2.5K educational, which  includes  1
year's  support.   Copies  of  the  Principles  Of  Operation,  a good general
overview of the system, price list, software licence, and documentation  order
