A further note:  Using DES for this purpose doesn't require a 30Mhz DES
chip.  The following neat trick - not mine, someone mentioned that it had
been mentioned to him - could probably be used today:  You build a frame
buffer and use DES to scramble the order of the frame lines.  The result
is just as useless without the key (for most purposes, anyway) as encryp-
ting the whole picture - but you only need to do encryptions in 10's of
milliseconds.
