Develcon monitor port command
In order to access the monitor ports (slims) on our dataswitch from
a terminal to monitor both directions, we built a special cable which
will take the output from both pins 2 & 3 (both are outbound on the
card) and place all the data on pin 3.  this cable may then be con-
nected to a DTE slim, which may be addressed.  Consequently, any
terminal with appropriate permissions may be used as a monitor for
the dataswitch connections.  This is especially nice if your terminal
(or micro) can show control characters, giving you essentially a
datascope on your desk.  (You can't see which characters came from
which source, but all characters can be seen.)

The connections for the cable are:

Monitor slim                            DTE slim

       2-----|>|---|
                   |
                   |------------------------3
                   |
       3--(5k ohm)-|

       7------------------------------------7

                                       |----8
                                       |
                                        |----20

|>|- is my crude representation of a diode.  (i hope it's
turned right.  anode is connected to the pin, and cathode to the
resistor.)

this can then be connected via a directory or a force connect.

ps - the televideo 950 will show control characters.  are there
any other common terminals with this feature?
