Re: More Great Utensils
For spices, particularly when needed in substantial quantities, as for
Indan cooking, I much prefer an electric coffee grinder to a mortar and
pestle.  I've always found a mortar and pestle doesn't really grind things,
it just seems to crush them.  We keep one just for spices.  Cost about
$15-$20.  One major drawback: they're hard to get really clean.

Has anyone ever seen a pair of stones, on big and one little, fairly rough and
designed for grinding spices instead of just mashing them?  I seem to have
heard such a thing described somewhere, but have never actually seen one.  I
expect it would be far nicer than an electric gizmo, and much easier to clean.
