Re: back to basics
Continued from last typo.

reasonable.  Several recipes have gone by for exotic dishes in the wok vein,
and there have been some pretty fancy dessert.  However, herewith is:

                       Roof Rabbit

       1 Large Domestic Cat
3 small onions stuck with cloves
about a pint of your favorite forcemeat
         salt and pepper to taste.
         garlic (optional).

Flense and gut the animal, then hang for two days.
Place the onions stuck with cloves in the body cavity, hold
together with skewers and boil until the fat stops coming off.  Skim
off fat as it come to the top.
Remove and cool.  Discard onions.  Fill cavity with your
favorite forcemeat and stich closed.  If desired, you could rub the
cavity with garlic first.
Lay strips of bacon over the cat and bake it on its belly (on
a rack) until tender.

This game can be served with cranberry sauce or pennyroyal.
Last had at my grandfather's house.  He has been dead for over 25 years.
Good though.
